Research Assistant in KeySteps@JC Phase Two [Ref. D/R/132/09]

 

City University of Hong Kong is one of the co-organizers of KeySteps@JC which aims to strengthen family, school, and community functioning to build stronger foundations for better life outcomes of our children. Through collaboration of multi-disciplinary professionals (medical, education and welfare sectors), the project strives for providing critical support to strengthen the social infrastructure structure for child development and to serve young children in underprivileged districts. The KeySteps@JC Phase Two is a five-year inter-institutional project funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, starting from August 2022.

Duties

The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator in researching and evaluating the project on the overall project management, prototype development of NGO-operated service hubs, and professional trainings for social workers, teachers and staff of hubs. Major duties include to:

  1. Conduct library search and literature review;
  2. Coordinate with staff in NGO-operated service hubs for research on hub service users, including parents, children and teachers, and on social workers and hub staff;
  3. Assist in data collection and focus group/case study interviews;
  4. Coordinate student helpers to support the input and transcription of data;
  5. Conduct multivariate statistical analyses;
  6. Design research questions and interview guidelines for qualitative interviews (such as focus groups, and case studies), and conduct qualitative research analyses;
  7. Assist in writing the quantitative and qualitative research reports; and
  8. Perform other research-related duties as assigned.


Requirements

  1. A Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Social Work/Neuroscience/Education, with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University;
  2. Experience in SPSS/NVivo or related software;
  3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  4. Ability to carry out research independently;
  5. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  6. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills; and
  7. Good computer literacy are required.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
