Project

ECF – Digital Marine Guardians: Saving Our Ocean Giants

The Project aims to recruit and train undergraduate students to produce multimedia works for ocean conservation, through outreach activities to educate the general public, such as lectures, workshops and online exhibitions, to deepen both their and general public attention to marine conservation, so as to change their behaviour, protect marine animals, sustain the biodiversity of the ocean, and love the sea.

Duties

  1. Support the overall project administration and logistic arrangement as the project coordinator (e.g. coordination of administrative procedures and systems, consolidation of expenditure claims and reports, preparation of progress reports, archive and record keeping of the project);
  2. Recruit and coordinate a team of undergraduate students in assisting the project (e.g. organising outreach activities and multimedia production);
  3. Organise outreach activities such as school talks and exhibitions; liaise and coordinate with other team members, departments and collaborators;
  4. Collect, review and analysis data of project outcomes (e.g. pre- and post-activities survey);
  5. Assist in writing manuscript and organising research activities; and
  6. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Occasional night duties or work on weekends/holidays may be required.

Requirements

A Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary / Ecology / Animal Science / Communication / Event Management or a related discipline, and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University.  Prior experience in marine conservation and related outreach activities, event management and multimedia production would be an advantage.

Good written and spoken communication skills in English and Chinese; ability to work in a diversified environment; ability to work independently in mature manner and maintain a calm demeanor in potentially stressful conditions; good record keeping; time management and organisational skills; attention to details; willingness to learn and acquire new skills; ability to adapt to an ever-changing work environment, strong motivation and interest in marine animals and research are required.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
