Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Assistant in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. C/R/431/09]

Project

One-health Pathogen Surveillance and Discovery

We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher who is interested to join a vibrant team of veterinary infectious diseases researchers investigating pathogens in shelter-housed companion animals, and interested in the molecular biology of infectious diseases including bacterial, viral and fungal agents.

Duties

The appointee will be involved in/lead our testing pipeline from RNA extraction to phylogenetic analysis of obtained sequences.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Science or related areas or equivalent qualifications. Experience in bioinformatics, e.g. Bowtie2, Megahit, Sortmerna, MAFT and IQ-TREE would be a strong advantage for this position. 

Candidates with PhD degree or equivalent qualifications may be considered for appointment as Postdoctoral Fellow.

Excellent communication skills; a strong work ethic; ability to work as a good team-player and problem-solver; excellent scientific writing skills, willingness and ability to respond to challenges and to acquire new skills are required.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
