Research Assistant in the School of Creative Media (Appointment for 5 months) [Ref. C/R/399/09]

 

Project

Accountability and Transparency of International Social Media Platforms in HKSAR in the Algorithmic Era

Duties

The appointee will work on multi-disciplinary research in digital communication and media law, and study the regulations of digital content, including creative works and entertainment. Main duties include, but not limited to the following: 

  1. Conduct literature review on the issues;
  2. Collect and systematise relevant laws and regulations;
  3. Assist the supervisor in conducting law and policies analysis; and
  4. Perform other administrative and research tasks.


Requirements

  1. A Master’s degree in Law with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University;
  2. Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  3. Familiarity with HKSAR law and the field of Communication, and preferably with UK/EU Law;
  4. Familiarity with doctrinal legal analysis, empirical research methods and comparative studies;
  5. Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative research of high-quality;
  6. Preference will be given to candidates having research publications, particularly papers published in peer-reviewed journals; and
  7. Skills in quantitative methodology, programming, coding, understanding of AI and machine learning principles would be an advantage.
  8. Immediate availability is preferred.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
