Part-time Research Assistant in the School of Creative Media (Appointment for 12 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. C/R/389/09]

 

Project

Startup Grant for Professor Richard William Allen

Duties

  1. Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication;
  2. Conduct library and bibliographic research;
  3. Conduct interviews, write, edit and prepare proof copy for the School’s bi-yearly newsletter;
  4. Write, edit and proof-read the website content of the School and its Research Centre;
  5. Assist in preparing grant applications;
  6. Consolidate materials for research and report writing;
  7. Assist in preparation of teaching and lecture materials;
  8. Assist in events, academic conferences and other outreach activities;
  9. Maintain and develop research databases; and
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  1. A Master’s degree in English/Journalism/Film/Media Studies or related disciplines, preferably with a PhD and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University;
  2. Excellent command in written and spoken English is essential. Hindi speaker is desirable;
  3. Substantial experience in writing, editing, reporting and communicating complex programmatic/research project information in reader-friendly formats and styles;
  4. Demonstrated ability and track record in journalistic and/or academic writing;
  5. Familiarity with academic research;
  6. Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  7. A good team player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with high flexibility; and
  8. Self-motivation and good time management are required.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
