Research Associate/Postdoc (2 posts) in the School of Law (Appointment for 12 months commencing from January 2022 with possibility of extension)[Ref. B/R/995/09] 

 

Projects

  1. The Study of the Implementation of the Hong Kong Basic Law
  2. Research Project on the Implementation of the Hong Kong Basic Law: Chinese and Comparative Constitutional Law Perspectives

 

Duties

Conduct research and produce high quality research outputs relating to Hong Kong Basic Law and Macau Basic Law, Comparative Local Government and Autonomy, and/or Chinese Law of Human Rights; assist the Principal Investigator in editing research works; organize seminars and conferences, and other academic events; and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A PhD degree in Law/Political Science, preferably specialized in Chinese and Comparative Constitutional Law, Local Government or Politics, and with no more than 3 years’ experience after the award of a PhD degree.  Publication record, excellent command of both written and spoken English, and experience in organizing academic events are required.  Good command of written and spoken Chinese is a plus.  Preference will be given to candidates with training in Comparative Constitutional Law and excellent language skills.

Candidates with a PhD degree plus at least 3 years’ relevant research experience after the award of a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Research Associate.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
