Part-time Research Assistant in the Department of English (Appointment for 10 months) [Ref. B/R/1145/09]

 

Project

A Multidimensional Analysis of Student Writing in Science and Engineering in Hong Kong Universities

Duties

The candidate will assist the Principal Investigator in:

  1. Data collection in both online and offline contexts;
  2. Data cleaning based on specific guidelines; and
  3. Data annotation / adjustment on textual files.

 

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or above in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, English Studies or related disciplines; and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University. The candidate should have excellent command of written and spoken English, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work within a team.

Priority will be given to candidates who are/have

  1. Postgraduate students in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Studies / English Studies or related disciplines;
  2. Familiar with one or more of the following areas: Functional Linguistics / English Grammar, Corpus Linguistics / Text Analysis, Second Language Writing, English for Academic / Specific Purposes; and / or
  3. Postgraduate-level research experience related to grammatical analysis in writing.
