Research Associate/Postdoc (2 posts) in the Department of Advanced Design and Systems Engineering (Appointment for 6 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. A/R/1132/09]

 

Project

Escalator Health Condition Analytic Model

Duties

Programme, develop and implement an escalator health analytics model including data processing and cleaning, data visualization and analytics, modelling and estimation and model evaluation to analyze health condition of escalators; advise MTR on the escalator conditions; consolidate research papers and reports; and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. A PhD degree in Systems Engineering/Vibration Engineering/Statistics/Data Science/Computer Science or related disciplines;
  2. Experience in programming (R, Python or equivalent);
  3. Enthusiasm for research collaborations with industry;
  4. Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken English);
  5. Willingness to work individually and in a small team, being flexible and independent, and strong initiative to complete tasks in a timely and professional manner; and
  6. Professional manner of working with both academia and corporations.


Good knowledge of and solid experience in data processing, cleaning, analysis and modelling and vibration sensor data preferred.

Oversea graduates from top 100 universities of a ranking list relevant to STEM-related subjects (QS, THES or ARWU) are welcome to apply.

Candidates with a PhD and no more than 3 years’ experience after the award of a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Postdoc.

Candidates with a PhD plus at least 3 years’ relevant research experience after the award of a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Research Associate.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
