Postdoc/Research Assistant in the Department of Chemistry (Appointment for 12 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. A/R/1110/09]

  1. Interactive Effects of 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) and Hypoxia on Impairment of Testicular Functions in Male Marine Medaka Fish
  2. Ancestral Exposure to Environmental Benzo[a]pyrene Causes Transgenerational Bone Impairment in Fish: Underlying Mechanisms at the Genetic and Epigenetic Level

 

Duties

Assist the project leader in the research projects.  Main duties include to:

  1. Design and conduct experiments, evaluate data, make observations, and keep detailed records in the laboratory notebook; and
  2. Perform preparatory and organizational work as assigned.

 

Requirements

An MPhil or a PhD degree in Biological Science or related disciplines (Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Cell Biology/Physiology, etc.).  Research and hands-on experience in general molecular biology, biochemical and biophysical techniques including PCR, cloning, protein expression and purification, western blotting, SDS-PAGE, bioinformatics, etc. are required. 

For the post of Postdoc, the appointee should possess a PhD degree with no more than 3 years of experience after the award of a PhD degree.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
