Farm Maintenance Technician in the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences [Ref. R/090/24]

Duties

  1. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of farm machinery, vehicles and equipment (both mobile and static) including preparation and delivery of routine maintenance schedules under the management of the Farm Manager;
  2. Operate farm wastewater system on daily basis (supported by external maintenance contractors);
  3. Organise and maintain of farm workshop and tools;
  4. Drive farm light goods vehicle for collection of materials;
  5. Assist in other farm tasks as directed by the Farm Manager including driving small loadshifting vehicle (skid steer) and cleaning cattle sheds in conjunction with other farm staff;
  6. Liaise with machinery and equipment manufacturers abroad to ensure optimum operation and maintenance programmes of farm equipment and machinery; and
  7. Travel abroad for training if required.
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Working out of hours and on call will be required.

Requirements

5 passes in HKCEE/HKDSEE including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics with at least 2 years’ relevant experience. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese and basic computer skills are required. Practical mechanical experience and post-school mechanical or engineering qualification are preferred. Possession of a Class 2 Driving License issued by the Transport Department and a small loadshifting vehicle (skid steer) certificate will be advantageous.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
