Assistant Communications Officer in the Communications and Institutional Research Office [Ref. D/449/09]

Duties

  1. Cultivate and sustain robust working relationships with media outlets and stakeholders, both locally and internationally;
  2. Contribute to the creation and distribution of diverse communication materials (such as research stories, university announcements, newsletters, press releases, web articles, speeches, and presentations) that reflect the University’s mission and vision;
  3. Assist in the planning and execution of media events, as well as international branding and marketing initiatives, ensuring they are meticulously coordinated and impactful; and
  4. Perform any duties as assigned.

Frequent travel and working irregular working hours will be required.

Requirements

  1. A Diploma with at least 2 years’ post-qualification working experience, and preferably a Bachelor’s degree in English/Linguistics/Journalism/Communications;
  2. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  3. Being a strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
  4. Ability to exhibit self-motivation, perform effectively under pressure and consistently meeting tight deadlines are required.
  5. A thorough understanding of best practices, culture, and developments in the higher education and media sectors is preferred; and
  6. A comprehensive understanding of local and international media landscapes and corporate communications, with overseas experiences would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
