Technology Development Manager in the Knowledge Transfer Office [Ref. B/851/09]

The appointees will support and mentor start-ups and teams on Minimum Viable Products (MVP) development under CityUHK’s HK Tech 300 Programme, as well as activities relating to commercialisation of inventions developed by research communities of CityUHK.

Duties

  1. Conceptualise and build prototypes or MVPs through application of agile engineering and rapid prototyping methodologies as a means to facilitate market and industry adoption of novel technologies;
  2. Work closely with faculty members and researchers to understand their inventions and provide prototyping support to effectively communicate the potential of such inventions;
  3. Facilitate and mentor start-ups in the implementation of design thinking methodologies for product development;
  4. Support the operation of the MVP programme;
  5. Keep track of market and technology trends;
  6. Work with external partners to source for solutions to enable the MVP realisation; and
  7. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. A Master’s Degree or above in Electronics/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Biomedical and a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in an R&D or product development setting;
  2. Experience in guiding and mentoring start-ups, teams and interns on a variety of prototype development projects; and
  3. A good track record of managing developmental projects from initial concept through to mass production.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
