Integrating Virtual Reality Farm and Facility Tours into the Veterinary Curriculum to Improve Student Outcomes in an Interactive Environment

The aim of this project is to develop virtual reality (VR) farm tours and related teaching materials for each of pig, poultry and ruminant, and to integrating these into the curriculum as innovative teaching tools.

Duties

The appointee, as a member of a dynamic team, will work on a teaching development grant, advancing the learning experience of students under the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) programme.  The appointee will be responsible for filming (in Hong Kong), organizing and coordinating filming with collaborators in Mainland China, and developing and testing the VR resources; and performing any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Creative Media/Computer Science/Engineering, or a related discipline, and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University.  Applicants should have experience of filming and developing VR tools.  Technical advice regarding content will be provided by the project team.  Specific animal-based or veterinary knowledge would be an advantage but not required.

Willingness and ability to adapt and acquire new skills, meticulous attention to details, ability to problem solving and work independently are required.  Fluency in both spoken and written English and Chinese would be an advantage.

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
