A One-health Investigation into the Zoonotic Potential of Malassezia Yeasts from the Skin of Man's Best Friends, Canis Familiaris and Felis Catus

Duties

The appointee, as a member of a dynamic team, will work on a companion animal infectious disease programme, advancing animal health and welfare by investigating infectious, particularly fungal, diseases of companion animals.  Duties are related to microbiology, including fungal culture and morphology, molecular biology, design and optimization of PCR assays, immunoassays, next-generation sequencing, bioinformatic analysis of next generation data; training and supervising students as required; assisting in curation of a sample biobank; providing administrative support; and performing any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary/Biomedical Science/Molecular Biology or a related discipline, and no more than 6 years of service at the University.

Proven success in biomedical research; excellent scientific writing skills; willingness and ability to adapt and acquire new skills; meticulous attention to details and record keeping are required.  Fluency in both spoken and written English and Chinese would be an advantage.

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
