Veterinary Assistant/Veterinary Nurse (2 posts) in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. C/R/386/09]

 

Duties

  1. Act as translators between clients and veterinary staff (English and Cantonese) during veterinary consultations in clinical setting and during ambulatory veterinary service consultations on production animal farms, raising goats, cattle, pigs and poultry;
  2. Support animal handling practicals and clinical skills practicals including pre-extra-mural studies (EMS), pre-clinical EMS and clinical EMS, including cats, dogs and other species as required;
  3. Provide logistical support for events/activities (e.g. workshops, seminars, student study tours); and
  4. Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

5 passes in HKCEE/HKDSEE including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); experience in handling animals (e.g. cats, dogs); and abilities to work independently and under pressure are required.

For Veterinary Assistant position, prior experience in the veterinary industry is required.  Candidates with AIRC Certificate at Grade 2 are preferred.  Possession of an Associate Degree/Higher Diploma/Diploma would be an advantage.

For Veterinary Nurse position, possession of formal Veterinary Nursing qualification such as AIRC Certificate at Grade 4, Advanced Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, or RVN status is required.  Possession of an Associate Degree/Higher Diploma/Diploma would be an advantage.  Prior experience in a training/mentorship role within the veterinary industry would be an advantage.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
