Technical Officer in the Laboratory Animal Research Unit [Ref. C/718/09]

 

Duties

Responsible for the routine operation of the animal facility and providing technical support in users’ training, equipment maintenance and safe operation of the Laboratory Animal Research Unit (LARU).  Main duties include to:

  1. Provide technical support in routine operation of the animal facility;
  2. Provide animal handling training to new users;
  3. Support maintenance of departmental equipment and infrastructure facility;
  4. Assist in purchasing and stock management;
  5. Carry out safety inspections and enforce facility safety regulations; and
  6. Perform any other duties as assigned.
 

Shift duty and working on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are required.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years’ post-qualification working experience in laboratory animal facility or related works.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
