Executive Officer in the Office of Senior Vice President (Innovation & Enterprise) (Appointment up to 30 June 2024) [Ref. B/R/1223/09]

Duties

The appointee will work in the Office of the Vice-President (Research and Technology) to assist the Senior Communications and Public Relations Manager in promoting University’s research achievement to different target audience (both local and international), and the large-scale flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme HK Tech 300.   S/he will be responsible for:

  1. Promoting research outputs to different target audience, e.g. academic peers from other fields, and the general public;
  2. Developing and implementing effective (on/offline) marketing and communications initiatives for HK Tech 300;
  3. Media pitching for HK Tech 300 and the University’s research achievements;
  4. Interviewing researchers/start-up teams, and generating contents for on/offline promotions for different target audience, e.g. e-newsletter, leaflet, and booklets;
  5. Facilitating media interviews with spokespersons and start-up teams;
  6. Exploring and identifying new channels and content ideas for promotion;
  7. Handling media inquiries and maintaining media relations (both local, regional and international media), especially those related to science, innovation and technology, and research news;
  8. Managing agencies and vendors;
  9. Support in event management and publication production; and
  10. Any other duties and projects as assigned by supervisors.

 
Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Journalism/English/Translation/Marketing or related disciplines;
  2. Minimum 7 years’ experience in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or related fields;
  3. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (both Putonghua and Cantonese);
  4. Being mature, independent, well-organised, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn  with problem-solving skills and analytical mind;
  5. Good interpersonal and communication skills,
  6. Knowledge of media trends; and
  7. Flexible and willing to work under pressure are required.
  8. A background in STEM is and experience in video production/event management/marketing communications in technology or start-up related industry would be an advantage.
