Senior Manager (Structure) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/565/09]

 

Duties

Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Development, the appointee should be a qualified structural engineer who will play a key role in various capital, operation and property management projects from planning to implementation and delivery.  As a senior member of the Office, the appointee will actively participate in office management and institutional cultural development.

  1. Monitor the progress and quality of works, and render advice on structural design, on-site problems project planning and implementation;
  2. Check and coordinate relevant drawings, supervise contractors and workers to ensure compliance with requirements;
  3. Coordinate among consultants/contractors, users and in-house units on record maintenance;
  4. Handle contract administration matters (including project financial issues);
  5. Oversee tendering exercises for employment of consultants/contractors;
  6. Ensure rectification of defects be carried out; and
  7. Perform any other assignments.


Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering/Civil Engineering, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”);
  2. At least 15 years’ relevant experience (of which at least 5 years at senior management level);
  3. Extensive experience in building development and large-scale building project execution in Hong Kong;
  4. Management and leadership ability to meet tight project schedules;
  5. Self-motivation for performance enhancement, and good analytical and interpersonal skills are required.
  6. Candidates with professional qualification of MHKIE/MICE/MIStructE and Chartered Engineer (HKIE/MIStructE), substantial experience in higher education institutions and/or experience in managing government subvention projects, and ability to use AutoCAD and Revit are preferred.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
