Research Associate/Postdoc/Research Assistant (3 posts) in the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (Appointment for 18 months) [Ref. A/R/1208/09]

 

Duties

  1. Coordinate, manage and participate in the deployment and monitoring of eco-engineering projects/an oyster reef restoration project;
  2. Participate and coordinate fieldwork and laboratory work;
  3. Perform in-situ and ex-situ species identification; and
  4. Write report and analyze statistics.

 

Requirements

  1. A PhD in Marine Biology/Ecology/Environmental Science/Conservation, or related disciplines with at least 3 years’ experience in a leadership role in scientific projects;
  2. SCUBA diving qualifications and experience (e.g. PADI Open Water);
  3. Familiarity with academic and scientific writing;
  4. Familiarity with Hong Kong marine species, particularly fishes required.
  5. First aid qualifications and familiarity with remote spatial manning technology (e.g. GIS), DNA analysis techniques, and photography/drone manning preferred.


Candidates with a PhD degree but less than 3 years of experience may be considered for appointment at Postdoc.

Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
