Careers and Employability Consultant in the Student Development Services [Ref. R/138/25]
The Career and Leadership Centre (CLC) of Student Development Services is dedicated to enhancing CityUHK students’ employability and to better preparing them to meet the challenges of a global workforce upon graduation. In addition to liaising with employers in providing graduate employment and internship opportunities to students, CLC also provides a series of career services such as career education programmes, career fairs, career skills workshops, assessment centres, pre-internship training and career consultation services for enhancing students’ competitiveness and employability.
Duties
Design, conduct and manage designated career and employability programmes;
Conduct one-on-one career consultations with students and provide them with professional guidance in career planning, occupation profiling, job search, job applications, internship and graduate employment, as well as the updated job market and industry information;
Liaise with employers in the designated industries and participate in employer networking and employer outreach activities/events for internship and employment opportunities for students;
Manage the Centre’s administrative and central support services (including but not limited to budget preparation and consolidation, report compilation, staffing, office management, team coordination and liaison);
Manage the development/enhancement of job platforms and other systems adopted by the Centre in order to facilitate the job-hunting process for students;
Conduct career-related surveys to obtain informative data on students’ employment and employers’ expectations/feedback;
Coach and manage other junior team members on their project implementation/daily work; and
Perform any other duties as assigned.
The appointee may have to work on irregular hours when required.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a postgraduate qualification;
At least 10 years’ working experience in students’ career development, talent acquisition/management, learning and development;
Good knowledge of local labour market trend and employment in Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas;
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and leadership skills;
Excellent spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
Proficiency in computer applications (such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are required.
Formal training/certification in career development facilitation/career counselling/career assessment; and
Experience in launching/revamping job platforms, applicant tracking systems and/or other related systems are preferred.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
