Executive Officer (2 posts) in the Student Development Services [Ref. R/136/25]

CityUHK cultivates global leaders through Inspirational, Interactive, and Innovative Learning. To advance this mission, Student Life and Resources of Student Development Services will coordinate a mandatory Whole-Person Development Gateway Education (GE) Course for all new students, alongside enhanced student advising and the Anti-Deception Initiative (a safety cornerstone of First-Year Learning). These integrated programmes embody our holistic education approach.

To adequately support our expanded Whole-Person Development initiatives (GE1601, student advising, and anti-deception programmes), we are seeking candidates who can fulfil the following responsibilities:

Duties

Reporting to the Associate Director (Student Life and Resources), the appointee will be responsible for:

  1.  GE 1601 course management:
    • Conduct course assessment validation
    • Conduct course assessments on the course components, such as reviewing videos on National Education and arranging visits to national education institutes
    • Develop competencies (including professional industry exploration, leadership, and life skills) through workshops
    • Coordinate with academic departments and facilitate student-advising services
    • Conduct interim review and progress monitoring with reminders to students to complete the GE course requirements in time
    • Arrange course announcements on the CANVAS course on course updates and instructions to aid students in completing the GE course
  2.  Anti-deception Initiative:
    • Liaise and coordinate with Anti-Deception Coordination Centre
    • Promote anti-deception in CityUHK year-round
    • Provide compulsory tutorials on anti-deception for first-year students
  3.  Performing any other duties as assigned.

The appointee will be required to work flexible hours on a need basis.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years’ working experience, preferably in project management or academic institutions;
  2. Working knowledge of computer applications;
  3. Outgoing personality and ability to communicate with young people;
  4. Good problem-solving skills, being resourceful and self-motivated; and
  5. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
