Assistant IT Manager/IT Officer in Computing Services Centre [Ref. R/112/25]
The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing and High-Performance Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace and Audio-Visual Technologies, and other related IT functions to support the University’s operations.
Duties
Manage all computers in central areas;
Implement computer-reborn solutions to minimise security and privacy issues on endpoint computers;
Support other departments for end-user computing needs;
Coordinate with departments on software life cycle management;
Plan, evaluate and deploy software for pre-installation on central computers;
Assist in evaluating, deploying and managing end-user computing solutions such as PaperCut MF, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Virtual App, Mobile Device Management, and XDR;
Assist in the procurement of IT solutions for end-user computing projects; and
Perform any other duties as assigned.
5-day work, with occasional work outside office hours as required.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology or related disciplines, with at least 5 years’ post-qualification working experience;
Familiarity with all versions of Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android and other popular operating systems;
Preferred knowledge and experience in the following:
Installation of all types of desktop software using batch files and scripting
Automated installation of Windows, macOS, Linux and software
Software Licenses Management
Deep Freeze, OSEasy and other popular reborn solutions
Hard drive cloning software and hardware
Office365, MS SharePoint, Teams, Zoom, SPSS, SAS and other popular software used in a higher educational institution
Solid experience in ITIL framework
Procurement of software and hardware
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in addition to strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills;
Adaptable to change, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and under pressure;
Good supervisory skills and experience in managing of a small team of professionals; and
Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese are required.
Ability to speak Putonghua would be an advantage.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Officer.

Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
