Technical Officer in Computing Services Centre [Ref. R/097/25]
The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing and High-Performance Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace and Audio-Visual Technologies, and other related IT functions to support the University’s operations.
Duties
IP telephony service support:
Provide installation, configuration, and administration services
Maintain database and ensure system records are accurate and consistent
Provide promptly user support and troubleshooting
Monitor and ensure the services are running smoothly
Inform the hardware supplier to repair or to replace the defective hardware once identified
Ensure the repair and maintenance jobs are completed as scheduled
Repartitioning, alternation and additional works:
Carry out site visits upon request
Collect data from user departments
Work closely with internal parties to ensure work requests are completed within specified time frame
Technical support:
Provide technical consultation and support to users, departments and vendors
Develop guidelines and procedures for existing/new services
Recommend improvements or enhancements to services to supervisors
Central support:
Ad-hoc events support, such as equipment setup and dismantling
Requirements
A Diploma/Higher Certificate/Higher Diploma in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering, or related disciplines, with at least 6 years relevant post-qualification work experience in IT fields;
Practical experience working in Cisco IP Phone and Aruba Wi-Fi infrastructure support;
Knowledge of wired and wireless networking technologies;
Familiarity with Wi-Fi Optimisation, Design, Spectrum Analysis tools, e.g., Ekahau;
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; and
Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese are required.
Ability to speak Putonghua would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
