Technical Officer in Computing Services Centre [Ref. R/079/25]

The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing and High-Performance Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace and Audio-Visual Technologies, and other related IT functions to support the University’s operations.

Duties

  1. Provide IT/AV support in teaching venues and meeting rooms;
  2. Conduct regular maintenance and updates of IT and AV facilities in centrally managed venues and assist users with these facilities;
  3. Assist in the design and implementation of AV solutions for various venues;
  4. Set up and manage IT/AV systems for various events and activities;
  5. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure all technical requirements are met;
  6. Support AV projects, including designing AV provisions for different venues;
  7. Document technical procedures and maintain accurate records of equipment and services; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.

5-day work, shift duty and working outside office hours and on weekends on a roster basis may be required.

Requirements

  1. An Associate Degree/Higher Diploma in Science/Engineering, or related disciplines, with at least 6 years of relevant post-qualification work experience, preferably in IT and AV fields;
  2. Hands-on experience in setting up and operating AV equipment for events;
  3. Strong understanding of AV systems, including projectors, sound systems, microphones, etc.;
  4. Knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking and troubleshooting that can help to trouble shooting IT/AV problems;
  5. Familiarity with AV software and tools, such as video conferencing platforms and presentation software; and
  6. Proficiency in written English and Chinese are required.
  7. Fluency in spoken English and Putonghua would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
