Careers and Employability Consultant in the Student Development Services [Ref. R/053/25]

The Career and Leadership Centre (CLC) of Student Development Services is dedicated to enhancing CityUHK students’ employability and to better preparing them to meet the challenges of a global workforce upon graduation. In addition to liaising with employers in providing graduate employment and internship opportunities to students, CLC also provides a series of career services such as career education programmes, career fairs, career skills workshops, assessment centres, pre-internship training and career consultation services for enhancing students’ competitiveness and employability.

Duties

  1. Plan, design and conduct career preparation and employability training workshops for students from all disciplines;
  2. Conduct one-on-one career consultations with students and provide them with professional guidance in career planning, occupation profiling, job search, job applications, internship and graduate employment, as well as the updated job market and industry information;
  3. Coordinate the career education and consultation services with other Career Advisors of CLC to ensure professional and effective career services are provided to students;
  4. Liaise with colleges/academic units and synergise diverse needs of the University to assist students in career preparation;
  5. Design, conduct and manage CLC’s Employability Enhancement Programmes;
  6. Liaise with employers in the designated industries and participate in employer networking and employer outreach activities/events for internship and employment opportunities for students;
  7. Plan and manage the promotional strategies for CLC’s programmes and events;
  8. Coach Career Development Officers and other junior team members on their project implementation/daily work; and
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.

The appointee may have to work irregular hours when required.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a postgraduate qualification;
  2. At least 10 years’ working experience in career counselling/assessment, talent acquisition/management, learning and development;
  3. Knowledge and exposure in developing/conducting career education programmes, assessment centres, selection assessments;
  4. Good knowledge of local labour market trend and employment in Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas;
  5. Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and leadership skills;
  6. Excellent spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
  7. Proficiency in computer applications (such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are required.
  8. Knowledge and experience in managing social media platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram) and event promotion; and
  9. Formal training/certification in career development facilitation/career counselling/career assessment are preferred.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
