Technology Transfer Officer in Knowledge Transfer Office [Ref. R/049/25]

Duties

  1. Review university technologies and identify the opportunities based on the industrial demand for collaboration and technology development;
  2. Assess technology readiness level, commercialisation potential, and viability of different technologies;
  3. Work with researchers and industry partners to develop commercialisation pathways of University’s technology, which may include collaborations for further development to eventually out-license to established companies, or to create a spin-off;
  4. Identify and market portfolio of University’s technology to prospective users for adoption/testing-feedback/implementation/use (i.e. not licensing for illegal purposes) of the technology;
  5. Orchestrate interdisciplinary groups of a variety of expertise to form teams to champion the evolution of application concepts culminating into actual businesses to spin off from University;
  6. Coach project teams in their pitch for their business concepts at/to: networking events, business plan competitions, accelerators, angels, incubators, investors;
  7. Build a mentor network to connect innopreneurs with mentors that supports Innovation Programmes and beyond; and
  8. Facilitate access to various public/private funding programmes for spin-offs/start-ups.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelors’ degree or above in Science/Engineering/Law/Business; experience with patent processing is a plus;
  2. A minimum of 3 years of business development/commercialisation/investment experience with a proven track record;
  3. Good data mining, analysis, and summary capability;
  4. Excellent writing and document preparation skills, including the ability to draft business proposals;
  5. Good appreciation of technology trends, and awareness of industrial needs and opportunities; and
  6. Specialised skills for transforming research into technological products/services that can be commercialised.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
