Research Engagement Officers I/II in the Research Grants and Contracts Office [Ref. R/028/24]

The Research Engagement Team of the Research Grants and Contracts Office has been established to foster a research culture that prioritises excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, impactful outcomes, and strong partnerships.

We are now recruiting team members with experience in scholarly communication and/or research impact to provide specialised support during the research development and assessment processes and contribute to training and capacity-building initiatives.

Duties

To provide high-level research support to faculty members and researchers to enhance their research impact, output visibility, and grant application success rates. The balance of duties will reflect the experience of successful applicants. Key duties include:

  1. Editing research-related documents, including manuscripts, grant proposals, and reports, and assisting researchers in refining and improving their research outputs and grant proposals;
  2. Producing/editing documents related to post-publication promotion, including press releases, lay summaries, visual abstracts, and social media posts, and developing researchers’ awareness and skill in promoting their research;
  3. Delivering capacity-building training sessions focused on impact generation, evidence collection, and effective grant application strategies; and
  4. Providing impact engagement consultation to faculty members and researchers on strategies to generate impact through engaging stakeholders and fostering partnerships and collaborations beyond academia.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years’ of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in higher education. PhD degree is an advantage;
  2. Substantial experience in publishing/editing research papers and/or impact development;
  3. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, requiring minimal supervision;
  4. Exceptional communication skills and fluency in English at native level;
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; and
  6. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience who can effectively synthesise complex data and concepts.

Candidates with more than 7 years’ relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Research Engagement Officer I.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
