Project Officer (Social Work) in JC PROJECT LIFT [Ref. R/015/25]

JC PROJECT LIFT

City University of Hong Kong is one of the co-organisers of the JC PROJECT LIFT, created and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The Project is a five-year Trust-initiated project that implements Urban Graduation approach (UGA) aiming to uplift poor households living in Transitional Housing (TH) through a mix of holistic and time-bound interventions. By addressing barriers and providing relevant resources and opportunities, the Project aims to assist families in both immediate and long-term upward mobility, uplifting them out of poverty. This project also works closely with NGOs which operate the TH projects for serving the underprivileged and disadvantaged groups.

Duties

The appointee will report to the Principal Investigator and work closely with other team members of the project. Main duties include to:

  1. Supervise, coach, and support Family Capacity Building Planners (FCBP) in various Transitional Housing projects;
  2. Facilitate the implementation of the Urban Graduation Approach to uplift poor households in Transitional Housing;
  3. Coordinate and lead FCBP training;
  4. Assist overall program design and implementation;
  5. Communicate and engage effectively with different NGOs’ senior workers and management; and
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Working on Saturdays/Sundays/public holidays and travelling between different workplaces may be required.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience; preferably with at least 2 years of supervision and team management experience;
  2. A registered social worker in Hong Kong;
  3. Strong commitment to poverty alleviation;
  4. Ability to working in diverse and challenging environments and different work settings;
  5. Good command of written English and Chinese;
  6. Self-motivation with strong sense of responsibility; and
  7. Ability to work independently and effectively in a team are required.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
