Teaching Lead in CoolThink@JC (Appointment for 12 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. D/R/097/09]

 

City University of Hong Kong is one of the co-creators of CoolThink@JC, an inter-institutional project which aims to foster the sustainable development of computational thinking education in Hong Kong.  The project was first launched in 2016 and the second phase has started since September 2020.

The University is seeking high caliber talents to join the project team.  The Teaching Leads will provide quality delivery of co-teaching support to primary schools, and support coordination and implementation of effective parent education workshops. 

Duties

  1. Conduct co-teaching support activities for promoting computational thinking and digital creativity for primary students in schools;
  2. Maintain close coordination with teachers from participating schools;
  3. Administer class schedules and manpower plan, and to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes;
  4. Supervise and coordinate a team of part-time student helpers who serve as teaching assistants for co-teaching support in schools, and to design related training and performance evaluation; and
  5. Provide support for parent education activities and project events including event organization, publicity materials design, video shooting and production, etc.


Travelling between different workplaces, and working on Saturdays/Sundays/public holidays may be required occasionally.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree from any disciplines can apply. Excellent presentation skills; good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (with high proficiency in Cantonese); and ability to work independently and in a team are required. Candidates are expected to be self-motivated, patient, and mature with good communication, organizational and problem solving skills. Fresh/recent graduates who consider embarking on a career in education, and have experience in IT education and teaching are welcome. On-the-job training will be provided.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
