Assistant Communications Manager in the Communications and Public Relations Office [Ref. D/373/09]

 

Duties

The appointee will be a core member of the publications team in the Office. S/He will be responsible for editing all Chinese write-ups, preparing high-quality speeches, letters, press releases, newsletters, magazines and periodicals in both printed and electronic formats. The appointee will also lead/assist in the planning and production of the University’s institutional publications (including the Annual Report, CityU’s flagship magazines and newspaper supplements), and support promotional events such as lectures, conferences and major University-level programmes.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language/Literature/Linguistics/Translation or related disciplines with at least 7 years’ post-qualification experience, including 5 years as a publication writer/editor, or equivalent. Candidates should have excellent proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); in-depth knowledge about print/online publishing; strong organisational and editorial skills; and the ability to work under tight schedules and perform diversified duties are required. Knowledge of higher education in Hong Kong and solid experience in managing editorial projects for a sizeable corporation would be an advantage.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
