Technical Officer in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/365/09]

 

The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing and High-Performance Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace and Audio-Visual Technologies, and other related IT functions to support the University’s operations.   The Centre has about 110 staff and contractors currently.

Duties

  1. Work in the IT Service Desk and handle Service Desk calls;
  2. Monitor and maintain IT and AV equipment in the Central IT managed venues (including teaching studios, lecture theatres, classrooms, conference rooms and communal meeting rooms);
  3. Assist users using IT and AV facilities in the Central IT managed venues;
  4. Provide IT and AV supports to University’s events and activities;
  5. Supervise and monitor IT and AV contractors; and
  6. Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

5-day work, shift duty and working outside office hours and on weekends on a roster basis are required.

Requirements

  1. An Associate Degree/Higher Diploma in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related disciplines, with at least 6 years relevant post-qualification work experience preferably in IT and AV fields;
  2. Practical experience working in Service Desk and IT/AV support; and
  3. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese are required.
  4. Being eager to explore and adopt cutting-edge technologies, and passionate about delivering user-centric products;
  5. Ability to speak Mandarin; and
  6. Knowledge of using different broadcasting software such as YouTube, Facebook, Zoom, Teams and Tencent would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
