IT Manager/Assistant IT Manager in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/339/09]

 

The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University's Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing and High-Performance Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace and Audio-Visual Technologies, and other related IT functions to support the University's operations. The Centre has about 110 staff and contractors currently.

Duties

  1. Design and implement smart-campus related IT projects based on IoT and API architecture;
  2. Conduct solutions research on innovative technology and derive technology roadmap to support the University's strategic growth;
  3. Prepare tender specifications and perform tender evaluation and assessment;
  4. Communicate with internal staff and all University members to understand their requirements and implement digital solutions, workflow automation and integration to fulfil their needs;
  5. Design management and operation dashboards to facilitate University operation and decision making;
  6. Lead and coach a small team to provide operation support and deliver digital projects;
  7. Prepare related system documentation; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology or related disciplines with not less than 10 years’ solid administrative and/or supervisory experience;
  2. Knowledge of IoT (ecosystem, architecture and management etc.) and experience in implementing IoT solutions and projects, including IoT platforms (e.g. Azure, ThinksBoard), IoT sensors and device evaluation and deployment;
  3. Knowledge and experience in implementing microservices architecture and APIs solutions (e.g. MuleSoft);
  4. Understanding of Operational Network protocols (such as BACnet, OPC, LoRaWAN, etc.);
  5. Effective management of multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail;
  6. Strong analytical, good interpersonal and communication skills;
  7. Being proactive and adaptable to change with the ability to work independently and as a team and under pressure;
  8. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) are required; and
  9. Practical project management experience with professional certificates is preferred.


Candidates with less experience will be considered for appointment as Assistant IT Manager.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
