IT Officer/Assistant IT Officer in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/331/09]

 

The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing and High-Performance Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace and Audio-Visual Technologies, and other related IT functions to support the University’s operations.  The Centre has about 110 staff and contractors currently.

Duties

  1. Assist in the administration and support Microsoft 365 and cloud collaborations service such as Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Information Protection;
  2. Perform lifecycle management for SSL certificates including but not limited to procuring, inventory taking and installing single domain SSL certificate, Extended Validation SSL certificate, Multi-Domain SSL certificate (SAN) and wildcard certificate;
  3. Perform daily operation activities including but not limited to handling incidents, service requests and implementing system changes according to CSC ITIL standard and procedures;
  4. Enhance the office automation and integration of CityU email and collaboration environment through PowerShell scripts, batch jobs and APIs development;
  5. Assist in the administration and support of email gateway and email backup solution;
  6. Assist in the evaluation, recommendation, purchase and implementation of software, tools or applications;
  7. Work closely with vendors and system integrators to implement effective IT solutions;
  8. Create and maintain system design and operations documentation; and
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology or related disciplines, with at least 3 years’ post-qualification working experience;
  2. Knowledge of programming with Powershell script, C#, ASP.NET, PowerBI, MS SQL;
  3. Experience in managing projects and vendors, and presenting project update and technical solutions to the management and across teams;
  4. Being proactive, eager to learn and well-organised with a strong sense of urgency and responsibility;
  5. Strong analytical, good interpersonal and communication skills;
  6. Adaptability to change and ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  7. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese are required; and
  8. Solid hands-on experience in administering and supporting Microsoft 365 and its applications is definitely an advantage.


Candidates with lower qualifications will be considered for appointment as Assistant IT Officer.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
