Introduction of Advanced Health Management Tools for Enhanced Pig Production, Product Safety and Quality in Hong Kong
The overall aim of this new project is to support the pig farming industry and introduce advanced health management tools that will enhance pig production, product safety and quality in Hong Kong, supported by a production and health management plan as well as a clinical pig health service. There will be a specific emphasis on establishing a culture of prudent use of antimicrobials amongst pig farmers.
A DVM or equivalent from a HKVSB recognised institution with 3-5 years’ experience in veterinary practice or any other relevant industry. Possession of a valid Hong Kong driving license (Class 1 or 2) and proficiency in Cantonese are required. Proficiency in Putonghua; and experience in commercial clinic set-up (including in-house lab and pharmacy, and electronic record systems) are desirable.
Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to communicate directly with veterinarians, farmers and students; ability to work with individuals from different disciplines; excellent supervisory, multi-tasking, organisational and problem solving skills, with ability to evaluate new processes, implement plans, and develop preventive/corrective actions; cultural sensitivity and resilience to overcome initial resistance to changes/perception challenges and foster a cooperative approach; and ability to work along with translator across cultural barriers with farmers are required.
Successful candidates may be considered for appointment on a full-time or part-time basis.
Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits for full-time appointment include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
