Dairy Farm Officer (Post B) in the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences [Ref. C/741/09]

Duties

1. Perform tasks as directed by the Farm Manager;
2. Carry out routine milking and feeding ration to cattle;
3. Prepare Total Mixed Ration (TMR) as calculated by Farm Manager and external nutritionist;
4. Handle general livestock farming, including night checks;
5. Maintain daily records;
6. Manage the operation of machinery for cleaning out and waste disposal;
7. Sort cattle out for teaching practicals;
8. Supervise students in animal handling and routine farm tasks during extramural farm study;
9. Coordinate with colleagues; and
10. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Shift duty and working on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays will be required.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years’ working experience, or Associate degree or Diploma with at least 7 years’ working experience. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); good communication and interpersonal skills; good analytical and organisational skills; ability to foster collaboration, supervise and motivate staff to work towards a common goal; strong commitment and ability to work under pressure are required.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
