Dairy Farm Officer (Post A) in the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences [Ref. C/740/09]

 

Duties

  1. Assist the Farm Manager in developing and implementing Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) and overseeing all farm operations and routine veterinary and para-veterinary tasks, such as artificial insemination, foot-trimming, treatments etc.;
  2. Teach and supervise students on-farm and liaise with academic farm animal teaching staff during extramural studies, rotations and practicals;
  3. Coordinate with the Farm Manager and colleagues during training and working;
  4. Assist the Farm Manager in coordination with outside contractors and suppliers, including planning of feed and other resources;
  5. Lead the team and oversee the farm, including out of hours, on a rotational basis during absence of the Farm Manager (e.g. teaching, holidays, days off and contingency during pandemic); and
  6. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Shift duty during irregular hours and working on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays will be required.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science/Animal Science or related disciplines with at least 2 years’ experience, or Associate degree or Diploma in related disciplines with at least 7 years’ working experience.  Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); good communication and interpersonal skills; good analytical and organisational skills; ability to foster collaboration, supervise and motivate staff to work towards a common goal; strong commitment and ability to work under pressure are required.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
