Executive Officer in the Office of the Vice-President (Research and Technology) (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. B/R/1225/09]
Duties
The appointee will report to the Office, and the main duties include to:
Assist in planning and logistics support for activities and events;
Manage a portfolio of Intellectual Property (IP) relating to emerging technologies;
Render guidance and work closely with inventors on patent filing strategy and patent prosecution approaches to maximise the scope of each patent;
Assess commercialisation potential and viability throughout the life of each patent;
Work with inventors to develop commercialisation pathways of their research/patent, which may include collaborations for further development to eventually out-license to established companies, or to create a spin-off; and
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Occasional travels to the Mainland may be required.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering/Life Science disciplines;
A minimum of 5 years of IP management and commercialisation/licensing experience with proven track record;
Strong industrial network and negotiation experience;
Good organisational and communication skills;
Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
