Associate Director in the Knowledge Transfer Office [Ref. B/669/09]

 

Duties

  1. Provide assistance to the Director in the areas of technology commercialisation, industrial Iiaison, promotion and support of entrepreneurship;
  2. Identify, market and license the technologies of the University/other sister institutions (where the University has legally agreed to such obligation) to prospective companies;
  3. Evaluate the potential and patentability of new inventions and develop appropriate commercialisation plan for them;
  4. Oversee technology transfer and related activities in Mainland;
  5. Engage in business negotiation and administration of technology licensing contracts;
  6. Provide support to the staff of the University in applying for government and industrial applied research grants;
  7. Build a strong tie with the industrial and business sectors; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. A PhD/Master's degree in Science/Engineering, preferably in the disciplines of Electronics/Telecommunication/Life Science/Material Science and Information Technology;
  2. An MBA or a law degree would be an advantage;
  3. A minimum of 12 years' working experience in the industrial sector/university knowledge transfer section;
  4. Strong business and technical background with experience in senior management position at one or more successful new technology companies;
  5. Good knowledge of and network with local industries and international enterprises; and
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
