Associate Director of Student Development Services (Student Life and Resources) in the Student Development Services [Ref. B/533/09]

 

Duties

Reporting to the Director of Student Development Services, the appointee will lead a team to provide services that foster a rich and vibrant learning environment for students:

  1. Oversee the management of scholarships and financial assistance schemes to reward outstanding and needy students, and liaise with donors for stewardship of scholarship recipients and network building;
  2. Anticipate the needs for student leaders and scholarship recipients, and oversee the implementation of student leadership training programmes to cultivate leadership and strengthen continuous improvement;
  3. Lead the planning and implementation of university-wide events for campus life enhancement (such as University Welcoming Ceremony, and cultural and arts activities);
  4. Strengthen students’ engagement with the community through the development and implementation of service-learning and community engagement programmes to provide students with volunteer opportunities;
  5. Oversee the planning and development of student facilities and equipment, and the management of a student activity center;
  6. Formulate and monitor the implementation of special projects (including Cultural Immersion Programme, Media Ambassador Programme and Service Outreach Experience Programme);
  7. Supervise staff members of the Student Life and Resources Section and support the development of professional competence; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.



Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree plus a postgraduate qualification in related disciplines;
  2. At least 15 years’ working experience in related fields, preferably in higher education or youth work; and a proven record of leadership and sound knowledge of student development and tertiary education in Hong Kong;
  3. Ability to work independently and collectively, and to lead a team of professional staff to achieve the University goals;
  4. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, donors and work partners;
  6. Solid experience in programme management, assessment and sustainability management; and
  7. Ability to use information technology to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery.

 

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
