Laboratory Safety Unit (LSU) is a central university unit under the OVPRT to oversee safety and regulatory compliance issues related to teaching and research activities in laboratories. The appointee will assist the Senior Laboratory Safety Manager in discharging the job duties in relation to projects, programmes and services under LSU. Main duties include to:
A Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Biochemistry/Chemistry/Occupational Hygiene or related disciplines with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience or a Master’s degree in related disciplines with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience.
Applicants should have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); good communication and interpersonal skills; strong quantitative, computer (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and analytical skills.
Preference will be given to candidates with relevant training certificate of laboratory safety associated courses (e.g. certificate in radiation protection, laser safety, safe use of x-ray, etc.) and experience in a safety unit of tertiary institution with laboratory facilities.
Shortlisted candidates may be invited for a written test.
Successful candidate will be required to attend training related to laboratory safety and risk management, where appropriate.
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
