Building Services Inspector I/II in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/693/09]

 

Duties

The appointee will perform site management to ensure works completion according to stipulated schedule and in compliance with contractual requirements.  Main duties include to:

  1. Supervise contractors to comply with statutory requirements (particularly safety) and University house rules;
  2. Carry out site inspections, record site activities, monitor progress, check findings against specifications and drawings;
  3. Issue site memoranda on defects and deviations, ensure proper rectification, suggest good construction practice and make alternative proposals;
  4. Coordinate and attend meetings with government authorities, consultants, contractors, users and in-house units;
  5. Ensure drawings record and O&M manuals in conformity with the as-built work; and
  6. Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

The appointee is required to perform shift duties and work irregular hours (including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays).  Actual working hours, rest days and day-off will be arranged by supervisors.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree/Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in Building Services/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related disciplines, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”);
  2. At least 10 years’ post-qualification on-site experience as Building Services Inspector/Project Coordinator/Construction Manager;
  3. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  4. Being self-motivated and performance-driven with ability to complete tasks independently are required.
  5. Chartered qualification in related disciplines, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD are preferred.

 

Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Building Services Inspector II.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
