Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (Electrical and Mechanical) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/680/09]

 

Duties

The appointee is required to work on night shift and perform on-call duties.  His/her main duties include to:

  1. Ensure electrical installation in full compliance with statutory requirements;
  2. Comprehend and monitor the design, installation, testing and commissioning, operation and maintenance of electrical installation including LV switchboard, emergency generator, UPS, local motor control panel, lighting and power installation;
  3. Carry out periodic inspection, testing and certification of electrical installation (WR2), E&M installation in laboratories and BMS control for building services;
  4. Manage E&M improvement works, including design, preparation of tender documents, budget estimate, contract administration and technical submissions approval;
  5. Prepare works orders to Term Contractors for minor repair works;
  6. Exercise tight control on cost, quality of work and project programs;
  7. Supervise in-house staff and contractor’s staff for routine and emergency maintenance, repair and inspection works;
  8. Conduct failure investigation and report preparation;
  9. Assist in implementing energy saving initiatives;
  10. Assist in safety and technical training;
  11. Attend to emergency calls; and
  12. Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree/Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in Building Services/Electrical Engineering or related disciplines;
  2. A registered electrical worker (Grade B0) with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”);
  3. At least 10 years’ hands-on experience in operation, maintenance or project works related to electrical installation operation and maintenance;
  4. Good knowledge of design and operation of electrical installations and systems in compliance with statutory regulations (e.g. EMSD, BD);
  5. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and proficiency in MS Office (including Word and Excel);
  6. A strong sense of risk awareness and responsibility, commitment to teamwork, good interpersonal skills, capability to supervise in-house and out-sourced works, and self-motivation with ability to work independently under pressure against tight schedules are required.
  7. Preference will be given to candidates with substantial electrical work experience in higher education institutions.


Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Technical Officer.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
