Editor in the City University of Hong Kong Press [Ref. A/653/09]

 

Duties

  1. Edit the CityU Press’ English publishing projects with high English standard;
  2. Monitor publication progress;
  3. Research, investigate and interpret publishing projects with academic faculty;
  4. Review, evaluate and copyedit English teaching materials;
  5. Assist the Director in the editorial activities;
  6. Collaborate with the Marketing team on the sales and marketing of books; and
  7. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Language/Translation/Literature or related disciplines with at least 5 years’ solid experience in writing/editing publications;
  2. High proficiency in written and spoken English at a native level;
  3. A keen eye for details with high expectation of quality and delivery; and
  4. Effective communication skills and being a good team player are required.
  5. Knowledge of international copyediting standards is highly desirable.
  6. Familiarity with InDesign would be an advantage.


Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
