Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (Water Supply and Pumps) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/575/09]

 

Duties

The appointee is responsible for overseeing the operation, upgrading, repair and maintenance of all water supply and pumping systems (including builder’s works) in campus buildings, staff quarters, student hostels and off-campus areas.  Main duties include to:

  1. Maintain high performance and reliable operation of various types of water supply systems;
  2. Arrange periodical inspection and operation testing to ensure normal operation of submersible pump system;
  3. Provide prompt actions to restore water supply and pumping system during emergency;
  4. Plan budget to overhaul/repair/replace rusty, water seepage/ingress and aging water pumps, pneumatic vessels and related control devices, and necessary pipe fittings to maintain the normal and heathy operation of the water supply system;
  5. Attend to emergency calls; and
  6. Perform any other duties as assigned.


The appointee is required to work on night shift and perform on-call duties.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree/Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering or related disciplines, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”);
  2. At least 10 years’ hands-on experience in operation, maintenance or project works related to water supply and pumps operation and maintenance;
  3. Good knowledge of design and operation of water supply and pumping installations and systems in compliance with statutory regulations (e.g. WSD, BD);
  4. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and proficiency in MS Office applications (including Word and Excel);
  5. Strong sense of risk awareness and responsibility; commitment to teamwork; good interpersonal skills; capability to manage in-house and out-sourced works; and self-motivation with ability to work independently under pressure against tight schedules are required.
  6. Preference will be given to licensed plumber and candidates with substantial work experience in higher education institutions.


Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Technical Officer.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
