The Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health was established in July 2017.  Its mission is to achieve and sustain excellence in teaching and research in veterinary studies through advancing the understanding of the interconnectivity of animal and human health.  The Department is well positioned to provide a strong link between the preclinical veterinary sciences and applied (clinical) veterinary medicine.  In another dimension, it focuses on One Health, an area spanning the health of animals, humans and the environment.  The Department plays a key role in teaching students in the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, Master of Science in Public Health and Epidemiology and Research Degree Programme (PhD).  Departmental academic staff members undertake teaching and research across their areas of speciality, and are actively engaged in enhancing the profile and effectiveness of veterinary training, public health and applied research through partnership and strengthening links with industry, business, commerce and other institutions locally and internationally.

The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Science and the Department are currently accelerating its recruitment of highly motivated and qualified staff that will contribute to the development of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.  We are looking for energetic individuals with a background in zoonoses, public health, and/or biostatistics to teach in this graduate-level programme and lead on public health issues centred around infectious disease modelling, surveillance and control, as well as zoonotic diseases and antimicrobial resistance and/or other ‘One Health’ related issues.

The appointee is expected to support the overall academic missions of the College and the Department, facilitate further development of research programmes and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
