Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor (Modern Chinese Literature) in the Department of Chinese and History [Ref. C/797/09]

Duties

Teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including BA, MA, MPhil and PhD; undertake research and administrative duties in academic programmes and student activities.  The appointees are also expected to teach broader humanities subjects and do practical writing in relation to late imperial and modern Chinese Literature.

Requirements

A PhD in Modern Chinese Literature.  Applicants who are interested in interdisciplinary studies and have substantial working experience in academic or research institutions are especially welcome.  Preference will be given to candidates with relevant teaching and/or professional experience, strong research and administrative ability, and a proven record of publications.  Successful candidates are expected to use both Chinese and English as the medium of instruction and to commence duty as soon as possible.

Candidates for Assistant Professor should have demonstrated potential for high-impact publication and grant capture.

Candidates for Associate Professor should have a number of high-impact publications and grants, and a demonstrated ability/potential to develop a research area on their own.

Candidates for Professor should have outstanding research/grant records and international reputation.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance.  Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable).  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
