Guidelines for Employers

Background:

In view of the double whammy of social unrest and COVID-19; CityU, as an innovative and global leading university, has taken proactive steps in further enhancing the employability and maximising job landing of our 2020 graduates and has put aside resources in support of our students and employers. Particularly, our President has allocated funding support dedicated to a new win-win initiative, CARLS, that facilitates employers’ recruitment plan in identifying fine talents from CityU.

Period of Registration: June - October 2020

Major Features:

Part 1: Registration of Jobs by Employers for CARLS

    1. Eligible employer should be a local company in operation for at least 6 months in Hong Kong.
    2. To participate in CARLS, interested employers should provide work exposure opportunities, whether full-time graduate employment or full-time contract to CityU graduates of Class 2020.
    3. Work exposure should start between June and October 2020, with durations of at least 3 months or more.
    4. To facilitate job information submission under CARLS, employers should provide job details via the designated link specified in the email invitation.
    5. Upon submission of job information, acknowledgement will be sent to employers via email within 2 working days. Submitted jobs will be assessed for eligibility and employers will be notified of registration result within 5 working days.
    6. Eligible jobs will be uploaded to our in-house online job platform – JobPlus for students’ viewing.

Part 2: Matching Fund under CARLS

    1. One third (1/3) of graduates’ monthly salary will be matched, or capped at HK$6,000 per month, for a maximum of 3 months. (For example, HK$5,000 will be matched for a monthly salary of HK$15,000; HK$6,000 for a monthly salary of HK$18,000).
    2. Once a CityU graduate is hired, employer is required to pay monthly salary in full for the first 3 months under the Scheme.
    3. Upon satisfactory completion of a maximum of 3-month work exposure; eligible matching fund will be reimbursed to participating employers by the University, subject to provision of necessary supporting documents.
    4. Settlement can be made via bank transfer to company account or cheque payment addressed to the company directly.
    5. In the case of unfinished work exposure due to graduates’ premature departure or under any special circumstances, reimbursement to the employers will be made on a pro-rata basis.
    6. Employers need to make declaration on not receiving dual subsidies from CityU on the same employment.
    7. In case employers do not require the reimbursement of matching fund, they have the liberty to opt not to apply for the fund. In other words, reimbursement of the matching fund under CARLS is optional to employers.
