Student Exchange Fair
Attend the Student Exchange Fair to learn about the undergraduate exchange opportunities!
Date: 12 - 13 January 2023
Time: 11:00am - 4:00pm
Venue: 4/F (Blue Zone), University Concourse, YEUNG
What to expect:
- Advising by Colleges, Schools and Global Engagement Office (GEO)
- Sharing by returned exchange students
- Promotional leaflets of exchange programmes in 2023-24
- Information sessions (see schedule below)
Pre-Departure Briefing Session
Passport and Visa
If you do not have a passport (or a Home Visit Permit for travelling to Mainland China), please apply for one if needed.
If you have a passport, please ensure it will be valid for at least six months after the end of your journey.
Find out if you need a visa and apply for the necessary documents you will need.
Study Plan
Confirm your study plan with your home academic unit and the host institution.
For College of Business students: Please check with your College.
For College of Engineering students: Please check with your Department.
For College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences students: Please check with your Department.
For College of Science students: Please check with your Department.
For Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences students: Please check with your College.
For School of Creative Media students: Please check with your School.
For School of Data Science students: Please check with your School.
For School of Energy and Environment students: Please check with your School.
For School of Law students: Please check with your School.
Make sure you have enough course load / credit load to maintain a full time student status at the host institution.
Transportation
Decide how you will travel and purchase the relevant tickets.
Familiarize yourself with the customs and layout of the city you wish to travel.
Submit your arrival information to the host instituion, if needed.
Plan your route from the airport or train station to your host institution.
Finance
Pay (or arrange someone to pay on your behalf) your CityU tuition fee while you are abroad.
Prepare sufficient fund for your living for the entire exchange period.
Take with you some cash and a credit card.
Luggage
Your passport, with the valid visa attached (if needed), in your hand-carried luggage.
Your air/train tickets.
Acceptance letter issued by the host institution.
A copy of your insurance policy.
Any medication prescribed by your doctor (preferably with a letter from the doctor).
Some cash for your initial expenses.
Necessary clothing for the climate that you will be travelling to.
A list of contact numbers such as numbers of the host instituion, the nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate General, and your insurance company.
Others
Ensure you are fit and healthy to travel!
Make accommodation arrangements.
Subscribe to travel and medical insurance.
Leave your insurance policy with your family and bring a copy with you during your exchange.
Download the International SOS assistance app.
Bring an electrical adaptor should you require one.
Check the orientation schedule of the host institution.
