CityUHK was invited to join the “AI for Good Global Summit 2025” in Geneva in Switzerland from 8-11 July after we triumphed at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (IEIG) held in April in 2025.  We proudly were the only university from Hong Kong that was invited to join this prestigious international summit.

The AI for Good Summit, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with 47 UN agencies and the Government of Switzerland, aims to promote innovative AI applications, enhance skills and standards, and foster partnerships. It serves as a platform for connecting AI innovators with decision-makers to effectively tackle global challenges through technology.

From robotics challenges and AI-powered films and art to global dialogues on AI governance and standard-setting, participants came together to shape the next decade of responsible digital transformation. Highlights included more than 100 breakthroughs in AI, robotics, and brain-computer interfaces in the expo; the launch of the Global AI Standards Exchange; the first-ever AI for Good Film Festival; the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Grand Finale; the Youth Zone featuring 18 workshops; the AI for Good Innovation Factory final rounds and Accelerator Programme; the advancement of the AI Skills Coalition with our more than 50 partners; and a powerful AI Governance Dialogue co-chaired by global leaders and supported by 53 UN entities.

We showcased the cutting-edge project “Breath AI”, an AI-powered, non-invasive diagnostic platform that analyzes exhaled breath to screen for multiple diseases in just one breath. This project garnered significant attention from investors and collaborators from around the world. Our colleagues were interviewed by WHO, Breakthrough and other various media orgnisations. The Director of Knowledge Transfer, Professor Goh Chinfoo, emphasizes that the device is accessible to all and has a meaningful positive impact on human health.

The 2025 Summit welcomed 11,000 participants from 169 countries from humanitarian, governmental, and academic sectors, along with over 50,000 online community members, to showcase how AI and robotics contributed to global progress in food security, climate action, road safety, and healthcare. The energy last week was simply electric.
