P04: Lithium-ion Batteries for Portable Electronics

P04: Lithium-ion Batteries for Portable Electronics (用於便攜式電子產品的鋰離子電池)

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs)  have revolutionized today’s mobile and fast-paced society by powering portable electronics and electric vehicles.  In 2019, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to John B. Goodenough, M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino for their pioneering work in the development of LIBs. The LIBs, used in the smart phones, are composed of four different parts: LiCoO2 cathode, graphite anode, seperator and electrotyle.  This lecture will take you to look back at the milestone discoveries that shaped the modern LIBs, especially for the portable electronics application.
